Czechs Make a Presentation in Wittenberg at the World Reformation Exhibition

Luther_2017The biggest Bible in the world, the medieval city’s panorama, or a robot instead of a pastor giving blessings these were the attractions at the World Reformation Exhibition, which commemorated the 500th anniversary of the European Reformation the moment when Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses on the door of his local church.

During the week from 30th August to 4th September the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren made a presentation together with the Silesian Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession. The churches offered a fresh view on the Czech Reformation, guided tours of two exhibitions, led discussions with the representatives of churches and Diakonie, and provided ecological and musical programmes.

Martin Luther: Dopisy blízkým

Luther_2017_cutReformátor, kazatel, přítel, manžel a otec

Minulé dva roky jsme si připomínali život a dílo mistra Jana Husa a Jeronýma Pražského.

Celebration and New Books Remind Czechs of the Anniversary of the European Reformation

Ratiboř 2017 002The Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren commemorated the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017. The celebrations took place on September 10 in Ratiboř in Vsetín, in the church and in the region connected with the Lutheran tradition.

The worship was led by the pastor, Jarmila Wiera Jelinek, and the sermon was preached by the Synodal Senior, Daniel Ženatý. Before worship began, the brass band from Oldřichovice with its music and the attentive volunteers distributing programmes summoned everyone to the Ratiboř temple. Encouraged by the preaching about freedom (Ga. 5: 1) and the communal singing (with the support of the Zlín Echo choir under the leadership of the whole-church cantor, Ladislav Moravetz) the faithful approached the supper of the Lord. The powerful singing of more than 750 festival participants proclaimed the importance and the message of the event. Czech Radio broadcast the event live. The temple collection, of 40,000 CZK, is intended to help produce a new evangelical hymnbook. Celý příspěvek
